Paula Carney, Owner/Founder

Paula is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and has worked in management and senior care for over 30 years. To be a CSA, she had to pass a rigorous exam and uphold the highest ethical standards for the benefit and protection of the health and welfare of seniors. Her background includes Private Duty Home Health, Medicare Home Health, Geriatric Care Management, Senior Housing, Regional Director, and Sales & Training Specialist. Paula started fundraising as a child, which led to her work on multiple Board of Directors, for several local non-profits over the past 20 years, including All Faiths Food Bank (Past President), American Cancer Society (Secretary), Venice Area Chamber of Commerce, Loveland Center (Serving Developmentally Disabled Adults), and more. Her passion is finding a gap in services and creating a niche to fill that need. She possesses the power of gentle persuasion, the ability to talk through issues and narrow down choices, providing the best possible options for her clients, through her vast resources and referral connections. Navigating through life’s maze is not easy, but it is much better when there is someone to talk it through with. Clients often say, “I couldn’t have done this without her.”

Nicole Carney, Director of Operations

Born and raised in Venice, Florida, where the average resident’s age is 70, Nicole learned early on that in her own community, many seniors experienced cost of living crises, inadequate health insurance coverage, and financial exploitation. From a young age, she knew that she wanted to advocate for seniors in her career.

While attending the State College of Florida in Venice, Nicole began working in a law firm specializing in elder law. She graduated from Barry University School of Law in Orlando, FL in May of 2020, and began working with Navamaze, advocating for seniors by protecting their autonomy, family relations, healthcare decisions, and financial interests.

Nicole ensures that Navamaze’s clients receive high-quality services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. While most of her work is done behind-the-scenes, Nicole also assists clients personally in matters such as bill paying services, long-term health care policy review, and moving coordination. To give back to her community, Nicole also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the United Way of South Sarasota County.

“Paula Carney at Navamaze is my go-to person when I talk to an elderly client (or their family) during the course of my business (assisted living). There are so many components to one’s life when you get old, from social services, state help, finding a caregiver or a small “home away from home”, or a large facility, and the financial and legal aspect of it, things, and resources you never knew existed that only a professional like Paula can find in this modern maze.”

The Certified Senior Advisor is a certification for professionals serving seniors. To be a CSA, an individual must pass a rigorous exam and uphold the highest ethical standards for the benefit and protection of the health and welfare of seniors.

Some companies offer free referral services that sound promising, when in reality they’re charging living facilities a referral fee, putting you in danger of not receiving the care that’s best for you.
